Problem Description
The challenge the customer was facing
Previously, new hammers were hardfaced using Diffusion's Cordiff 600 TIC. However, several issues were identified, including scattered spatter, poor weldability, and an uneven hardness distribution across the hardfaced surface.

Welding Alloys Solution
How WA solved the challenge
For optimal performance, we recommend using Hardface TIC with a diameter of 1.60 mm, particularly in conjunction with welding processes conducted in a trough filled with circulating water. This method effectively regulates heat input, enhances weldability, and minimizes distortion. Each set comprises eight hammers. The design features a continuous pattern on the crushing surface and a chequered pattern on the body. Total 352 Hammers were hardfaced.

Technical Advantages
- Enhanced welding characteristics: The process exhibits improved welding attributes, ensuring superior quality and consistency.
- Uniform ripple patterns: The resulting welds display uniform ripple patterns, contributing to aesthetic appeal and structural integrity.
- Reduced slag accumulation: The system minimizes slag formation, resulting in decreased cleaning operations between consecutive layers.
- Increased hardness: The weld deposits demonstrate enhanced hardness, even in layers as thick as 5mm.
- Controlled distortion: The implementation of a water cooling arrangement effectively mitigates distortion during the welding process.
