Problem Description
The challenge the customer was facing
Depending on the application, the knives are made of tool steel, which is heat treated after mechanical processing, or of mild steel and only the working elements (edges) are hardfacung with a suitable additional material.
The customer expects a weld that would be abrasion resistant and, above all, good impact resistant.
Welding Alloys Solution
How WA solved the challenge
The customer used Castolin EnDotec SAFE-HARD 600 wire (copper coated, seamless) with a diameter of 1.2 or 1.6 mm depending on the dimensions of the welded element. Then, probably due to problems with the availability of this wire, used SafePlus 600 wire (noncopper coated, with seam).
The customer expected the hardfacing area to have a structure resistant to abrasion and significant impact loads.
The Robodur K 600 wire was perfect for these conditions.

Technical Advantages
Compared to Castolina wires, our wire is characterized by better weldability with slightly lower current-voltage parameters. Tests have shown good resistance to abrasion and impact, typical of this application.
