Problem Description

The challenge the customer was facing

The customer utilized conventional semi-automatic, locally manufactured equipment for hardfacing and profiling applications. However, they encountered several challenges, including irregular weld beads, uneven ripples, and porosities in the weld deposits. The preheat temperature of 250°C and interpass temperature of 280-300°C were adversely affecting the efficiency of their equipment, leading to prolonged execution times and frequent process breakdowns.

How WA solved the challenge

Two WMK-2 units were recommended, equipped with heat-resistant linings at the torch end to safeguard the torch during the hardfacing and profiling processes. The integration of D3 control significantly enhances welding quality by regulating process parameters, thereby minimizing human error. The implementation of a consistent welding sequence resulted in uniform ripples and a noticeable reduction in weld defects. Consumables used for Hardfacing is Corodur 600TIC O and for Profiling is Hardface TIC O.
