The customer was experiencing a problem in which holes developed in the existing chute due to wear. The current solution involved shutting down operations, removing the highly combustible conveyed material, and then carrying out repairs by welding. However, this approach presented several challenges, including securing sufficient maintenance time and the associated repair costs.
