Problem Description
The challenge the customer was facing
The media being pneumatically transported is made up of mixed waste with inclusions of crushed glass and plastics, this causes severe abrasion on the elbows.
As there is no crane access, the parts must be changed by hand when they wear so need to remain lightweight.

How WA solved the challenge
We applied 4mm thick, 92% Alumina tiles.
After examining the wear pattern, to keep the weight to a minimum and remain within the customers budget expectations the tiles were only applied to the inside of the outer radius.
This was a trial on 5 elbows and we are now negotiating a further 50 elbows.
